I’m mixing minimal music. Sometimes changes rarely happen, or sometimes after 64 bars (hard to count) so it’s hard to apply this type of counting to it. But I agree knowing your music is super important. 2 songs clashing with 2 very different melodies for example almost never sounds good. A tip is to use your DJ software Hotcues to map out when certain elements change so you don’t have to rely on your memory to know. It’s saved me many times from overlapping vocals with each other for example!
Hi Russell, thanks for commenting. You are totally right about the Hotcue-markers: we spend many lessons learning people to mark the changes in the Intro’s, which is one of the most essential parts of making the most beautiful transition. Keep on going like that!
